Palmerston Light Up the Park event to feature Santa, reindeer

PALMERSTON – All Aboard Palmerston, in conjunction with the Palmerston Lions Club, is bringing back the holiday magic with a bigger and brighter Light Up the Park  celebration than ever before.

The event takes place on Nov. 18 and will begin at 6pm with hot drinks at the entrance to the Lions Heritage Park followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 6:30pm.

Following the lighting, families are encouraged to tour the lights throughout the Lions Park, listen to the sound of holiday music provided by a local DJ, and stop at various activities along the way.

Those attending are welcome to enjoy free popcorn from the Minto information booth, grab a free balloon from balloon artist Chuckles, take a horse and wagon ride through the park, and snap a photo with Santa Claus at the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum and the Grinch at the Lions Park Pavilion.

In addition, this year visitors can play “reindeer” games and meet one of Santa’s real live reindeer.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the EarlyON Centre in Palmerston for winter activities on their outdoor playground, warm up in the Palmerston Library while participating in craft stations and a scavenger hunt and check out special promotions at downtown businesses.

All are welcome to bring a donation to the Giving Tree, located outside the Palmerston Lions Den at the front of the park.  All toys and gifts must be unwrapped and will be donated to the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington.

Food donations will go to the Palmerston Food Bank.
