Organization looking for host families

Youth from Spain are visiting Centre Wellington, through the Canada Linc English program in July for what they are hoping will be a life-changing experience. The youth, from 14 to 18 years of age, are coming to Canada to learn English, get to know Canadian families and teens and generally immerse themselves in the culture.  For many, it will be their first trip away from home and thus a very exciting opportunity.

Canada Linc English, the local company responsible for the visit, is seeking friendly, welcoming homes to host these students for the four weeks of their stay.  Homes with teens or younger children are preferred, but all families are welcome to enquire about this opportunity.

Hosts receive a $760 honourarium for the four week session. Because this is a home stay immersion program, students do not attend classes.  However, they will have some planned activities with their group leader in the afternoons and participate in one day trips each week organized by Canada Linc.

Families with one parent at home or flexible job schedules are ideal. This allows time for meaningful interaction and direct supervision. Families enjoy learning about another culture from their guests, and new and lasting friendships often develop. The teens arrive the last week of June and stay until the end of July. Because they do not have a full schedule, it is possible for families to include them in trips such as camping, a week at the cottage or just a day away.  The process to approve families for this summer takes some time. Interested host families can contact Susan O’Neil at  519-831-7581 or email susan@canadalinc.com. For more information on the program visit Canada Linc at www.canadalinc.com.
