OPP officer injured by snow scraper on Monday

Police are asking for the public’s help to find out more information about an incident involving a snow scraper that left an officer bloodied.

On Dec. 1 at  around 9:15pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was patrolling Highway 6 between 2nd and 4th Line in Centre Wellington Township in a fully-marked police vehicle.

Police say the officer pulled over to the shoulder and activated the vehicle’s rear flashing lights. While exiting the vehicle, he was struck in the face with a snow scraper. The officer was treated at the hospital with minor facial injuries and released.

Police located a black plastic snow scraper at the scene.  There are no descriptors of the vehicle or suspect at this time.

Wellington County OPP is requesting anyone that may have observed the police vehicle and officer at this location or witnessed this incident to call 1-888-310-1122.
