OPP looking for help to solve murder of Hamilton’s Monica Chisar

Remains of woman, missing since July 2018, were found near Mount Forest on Christmas Eve

SOUTHGATE – Police say Monica Chisar, whose body was discovered here in December, was murdered and they’re seeking tips to help with the investigation.

On Dec. 24, 2019, human remains were found in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6 in Southgate Township, just north of Mount Forest.

Police have identified the victim as Monica Chisar of Hamilton and announced on May 12 they have determined she died as a result of a homicide.

Grey Bruce OPP officers, including the detachment Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services and the Criminal Investigation Branch, are investigating with the assistance of Hamilton police.

Chisar was last seen in Hamilton on July 11, 2018 and was reported missing by her family in September 2018. 

She had been dropped off in a parking lot at Barton Street East and Parkdale Avenue North, just after midnight.

She was known to spend time in the Greater Toronto Area, Kitchener and Hamilton.
