OPP looking for driver in Fergus hit-and-run Saturday night
Pedestrian struck near sportsplex sent to hospital with serious injuries
FERGUS – Police are looking to identify a suspect after a hit-and-run late on Saturday night that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.
Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the scene, on Wellington Road 18 near the Fergus sportsplex, on May 30 at about 11pm.
The facility was hosting the second of two nights of the annual Meadows Music Festival.
"Upon arrival, emergency responders located an injured male, who had been hit by an eastbound pickup truck," police stated in a May 31 press release.
"According to witnesses, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, travelling east on Wellington Road 18. The truck was described as darker in colour."
Police say the injured pedestrian was transported to a Hamilton hospital with serious injuries.
Anyone who witnessed this collision, has video footage or has information can call the OPP at 1-888-310-112 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
"The public is also asked to be on the look-out for any dark coloured trucks with heavy damage on the front-right side, or front-right mirror area," police stated in a follow-up press release on June 2.
