OPP investigate Mount Forest business break-ins

Police are looking for help following several break-ins and thefts here recently.

Wellington County OPP officers investigated three break and enters to businesses and one church between July 27 and Aug. 4.  

Police say the suspect(s) forced their way into the buildings and stole small amounts of money.

In the event of a break and enter the OPP advises citizens to contact the police and to leave the crime scene undisturbed until police arrive. Police also recommend being prepared to provide information about the missing items. The police will need a clear description, value, and serial number for each item.

Police offer the following  strategies to businesses to better secure property:

– ensure exterior lights are operational;

– consider leaving on an interior light;

– lock all windows and ensure doors are properly closed and locked before leaving;

– install an alarm and have it checked regularly;

– leave cash drawers open to show no money has been left over night; and

– make regular bank deposits to minimize cash on hand.
