Every year on Nov. 11, Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.

OPP “Constable Mark Cloes said this year from 11pm on Nov. 10 to 10am on Nov. 11, members of the county OPP Auxiliary Unit will be forming an Honour Guard at the Fergus Cenotaph.

Cloes said those members will stand guard at the cenotaph in two man teams for two hours each throughout the entire night.

“This is small tribute to our Canadian veterans’ and members of the County of Wellington OPP Auxiliary Unit would like to thank those who gave so much,” Cloes said, adding that Canadians honour those who fought for Canada in all wars as well as peacekeeping missions.

“Many Canadians have served our country in this way, and many have given their lives so that Canadians may live in peace.”
