Online strategic plan survey

Centre Wellington asks residents “What is most important for the next four years?”

A new online survey seeks direction on where the township should focus its attention and where to direct tax dollars over the next four years.

The survey is available on the township’s website www.centrewellington.ca.

CAO Andy Goldie explains that it is part of the township’s 2015-2018 strategic plan process.

Recently Mayor Linton released a similar online citizen questionnaire that provided an opportunity to gather some basic feedback from citizens.

The new survey takes the next step forward.

“The survey lists 29 different potential priorities that Council and staff could focus on over the next four years…everything from replacing bridges to improving downtowns to supporting arts and tourism organizations to communicating via social media to attracting industrial developers, and everything in between. But we know we can’t do it all, at least not all at once.”

Goldie adds that, while most residents will visit the township website to complete the survey, anyone who would rather have a paper version can get one by calling 519-846-9691 ext. 226 or by picking one up at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex or township municipal office. Responses are requested by March 20.

Winegard Consulting, which the township has engaged to spearhead its 2015-2018 strategic planning process, will tabulate all responses and report the results to council, and on the township website. The consultants will meet with a variety of committees and boards over the next month and report that input back to council, before leading council and staff through discussions to clarify their four-year focus.

“It only takes five minutes,” notes the CAO. “This input is going to make a difference; everyone needs to participate and everyone can.”
