One dead in Jan. 4 crash in Centre Wellington
CENTRE WELLINGTON – One person is dead following a collision between an SUV and a transport truck here on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the second fatal collision on Wellington County roads within three hours on Jan. 4 (the other occurred in Puslinch).
Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to a serious crash involving an SUV and commercial transport truck at Wellington Road 17 and 8th Line West, near Alma, at about 3pm on Wednesday.
"The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene," police stated in a press release.
"The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notifications. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured."
Police say Wellington Road 17 was to be closed for several hours, from Wellington Road 8 to Floradale Road, as was 8th Line West from Wellington Road 17 to Sideroad 5.
