Old shell discovered
On Nov. 6 County of Wellington OPP received a report of a found military mortar at a residence on Eramosa-Garafraxa Townline.
Police attended and confirmed the object to be a military mortar. It was unknown if the mortar was live, or a practice mortar.
The West Region Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) was contacted, who in turn contacted Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden. The item was determined to be a practice mortar, and not a safety issue.
Police are urging anyone who finds anything that appears to be an explosive, to leave it where it is and contact OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
