Obituary

David “Dave” Bruce Towriss, 79, of Elora, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 24, 2025. Born on July 29, 1946, in Palmerston, Ontario, Dave was the son of Elden and Margaret Towriss. He built a long and successful career as a car salesman, a profession perfectly suited to his carefree nature, warm smile, and genuine way with people. On July 22, 1967, Dave married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Beth), and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Dave had many passions, all of which reflected his appreciation for the simple joys of life. He loved his cars, his animals, camping trips, euchre games, dancing, music, a good whiskey, and—most of all—his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his kind heart, and the comfort and calm he brought to all who knew him. Dave is survived by his wife, Beth; his son Tony Towriss and his children Katherine (Murray) and Kyla (Andrew); his son Todd Towriss and his wife, Lisa, and their children Alissa (Cory), Madisson (Kurtis), and Jessica (AJ); and his son Trevor Towriss and his wife, Crystal, and their children Tianna, Tori, and Talynn. He will also be dearly missed by his great-grandchildren Tyson, Konnor, Alice, Bennett, Calvin, and River. Dave is also survived by his siblings Les Towriss, Merril Towriss, Inez Redwood, Gord Towriss, Earl Towriss, Betty Keleher, and Joanne Antle. He was predeceased by his brothers Grant Towriss and Ralph Towriss. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the Fergus Legion, 500 Blair St, Fergus, ON. Dave’s kindness, warmth, and gentle presence will be forever remembered and deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dave may be made to the Guelph Humane Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
