Anne Tinker (née Frost), 84, of Elora, Ontario, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 21 at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit in Guelph. Anne is survived by her loving husband David of Elora, her daughter Karen (Eric) of Mansonville, QC, her son Paul (Robin) of Brantford, her son Philip (So Young) of Toronto, her sister Mary of Craven Arms, UK, her brother Andrew of London, UK, her brother Stephen of London, UK, and her grandchildren Madison, Jackson, Felix, Grace, Matthew, and Gabriel. She is predeceased by her father Francis, her mother Mona, her sister Elizabeth, her brother Michael, her sister Susan, and her brother Peter. Anne was born in Caenby, Lincolnshire, UK, daughter to Francis and Mona Frost on November 7, 1940. She went to school at Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire, and then trained as a nurse in Oxford. Anne went on to nurse in London, and then later in Canada after marrying David in 1966. She enjoyed crafting, especially sewing, dressmaking, knitting, and furniture refinishing. Anne also loved gardening, tennis, badminton, bridge, and family camping, including canoe trips and hiking. She was a lover of birds, and had a keen eye for the many species that graced her back garden. Anne travelled the world and visited over 40 countries, living in Singapore and the UAE. She was involved in many charities including fund raising for the Cancer Society, and for the Red Cross. Anne also volunteered at the New to You shop in Fergus, the Elora and Salem Horticultural Society, and with the Chancel Guild at St. John’s in Elora. She loved choral music and sang for many years with St. John’s Volunteer Choir. Visitations will be held on Friday, September 5 at 6 – 9pm at Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, and on Saturday, September 6 at 12:00 – 1:30pm at St. John’s Anglican Church in Elora. The funeral service will begin at 2pm on Saturday, with a reception to follow at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Groves Hospital Volunteer New to You Shop, and St. John’s Anglican Church in Elora.
