SCHMIDT, Lloyd Austin of Arthur passed away peacefully at the Caressant Care Nursing Home, Arthur on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Fitzpatrick) Schmidt (1995). Dear father of Floyd and Julie Schmidt of Waterloo, John and Mary Schmidt of Arthur, Debbie and Dave Alexander of Arthur and the late Garret (Garry) Schmidt (1970). Cherished grandfather of the late Adam Schmidt (2000), Terra and Mike Tomei; Rebecca Schmidt, Lisa Schmidt (Sean) and Daniel Schmidt. Dawn and Chad Dyce, Dana and Jason Salares. Dearest great grandfather of Daemon, Brayden, Cassidy, Henry, Milo, Ella and Ava. Brother of Pearl and Gus Barbaro of Guelph. Predeceased by his siblings Elmer, Stella, Fred, Louis, Gladys, Rowena, Marie and Gord. Lloyd served his country in the Second World War as an Ambulance driver. The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in the St. John Roman Catholic Church, Arthur on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Parish Prayers were recited in the Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00. The Arthur Royal Canadian Legion Branch #226 conducted a Legion Service in the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
