SCHIECK, Alvin Ivan

Of Peterborough passed away suddenly while surveying his domain on Friday, July 4, 2025 at the age of 60. Beloved husband and best friend of Lynn Marie (L.M.) Landry for 23 years. Cherished father and mentor of Garnet Schandry and Docité Schandry. Dear brother of Pamela and Ivan Sharp of Barrie and Dan and Kim Schieck of Mississauga. ‘Funcle’ of Rowan Schieck, Devin Schieck, Jaidyn Landry, Gavin Whitten-Carrington, and Ethin Whitten-Carrington. Brother-in-law of Brian Landry and Jo Burnside. Son-in-Law of Leo Landry and Lynn of Allison. Alvin will be dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues and most especially by his clients for whom he fought tirelessly. Alvin was a fierce defender of his clients and an empathetic guide to them through the legal system. He assisted people who face the most extreme challenges with dignity and understanding. He was a dedicated mentor to many other lawyers and friend to all. Alvin loved to spend time on their property on the Otonabee River, watching the wildlife, walking the dogs, smelling the alfalfa, managing his forest and sharing stories and campfires with his friends and family. Predeceased by his parents Larry and Christina “Tina” Schieck and his mother-in-law Marlene Landry. To honour Alvin’s wishes cremation has taken place. A casual evening and visitation will be held at the Moorefield Community Centre, 15 Ball Ave. Moorefield on Friday July 11, 2025 in the evening from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Alvin’s requested bonfire send-off and it will be held at Thistlebrae Estate Farm in Peterborough on Saturday, July 12, 2025, after 8:00pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to either the Brock Mission or to Cameron House; shelters in Peterborough, would be appreciated by the family.
