RUSSELL, Wendy Lynn (née Owens)

April 22, 1943 - January 5, 2026

Wendy passed away peacefully at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home, where she resided for the past two and a half years. In her 83rd year, she fought a brief but courageous battle with cancer with her beloved husband, Bud, by her side. Loving wife of 65 years to Albert (Bud). Precious mother to Albert Jr., Lloyd, and Andrew. Proud grandmother of Victoria, Michael, Angela, Joseph, Olympia, Lloyd Jr., Ashley, and Alana. Wendy loved and honoured God, practicing her faith daily. She sang in church choirs and participated in various church activities whenever possible. She took great delight in caring for her family—comforting them and cooking for anyone who visited their home. In addition to managing the household, Wendy worked alongside Bud in their many business ventures. A dedicated member of her community, Wendy organized and led the efforts to update and refresh both Hoffer and Dr. O’Brien Park in Elora. She also served with the Centre Wellington Advisory Group (CWAG) to improve the quality of life for Elora residents. Her community service was formally recognized by the Ontario Provincial Police Association, which awarded her a plaque for her tireless efforts. A public viewing was held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, located at 280 St. David Street South, Fergus. The funeral service has taken place at St. John’s Anglican Church, 36 Henderson Street South, Elora, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2pm. Following the service, Wendy was laid to rest at the Elora Cemetery. Family and friends gathered for refreshments afterward at Thompson Hall, located in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Wendy’s memory.
