Alan loved to sing and worship when leading services. One of his favourite hymns includes the lyrics:
Bold I approach the eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Alan approached that eternal throne on October 20th 2025 at the amazing age of 98. He was predeceased by his first wife Doris (2009) and sons-in-law Cliff (2016) and John (2025). He will be missed by his wife, Margaret, son Edwin, daughters Gail and Christine, his grandchildren, Ruth, James, Joyce, Corrine, Tim, Matthew, Aaron, Joshua, Peter, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. As a young man he developed a passion to share Gods Word with as many as he could reach. Even in retirement he continued to preach, and when he no longer had the strength for that, he wrote devotionals to share with many friends and his fellow residents at Heritage River. His words of encouragement and comfort will continue to be shared through the books he has written. A private burial will be held at Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus and a celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 12:00pm at Central Church, 7674 Colborne St, Elora, with a light reception to follow.
