REID, Myrtle Lenore

November 19, 1930 - December 12, 2025

O.N. 1930 – 2025 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Myrtle Lenore Reid, O.N. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville, in her 96th year. Born on November 19, 1930, Myrtle was the only child of Lenore (nee Plant) and William Clarence Dennis. Born and raised in Brittania, Myrtle settled in Erin Township in 1950 with her late husband, Robert John Reid. Together, they established Reidholme Farm and raised four children, Jim, Doug, Marilyn (Doug Squibb), and Lorne. She was a cherished grandmother to Andrew (Rhonda), Michael (Amanda), Lesley (Jason), Kaitlyn, and Sean. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Chelsea, Brandon, Kylie, Ethan, and Hudson. Myrtle was predeceased by her eldest son Jim and her beloved grandson Sean. Myrtle was deeply involved in her community. She was a 4-H leader, leading over 20 homemaking clubs, as well as a Youth for Christ volunteer, demonstrating her commitment to youth mentorship and leadership. She was a life member of the Women’s Institute, holding various office positions, including Wellington Centre District President (1999-2001). The connections Myrtle made through the Women’s Institute extended across the country, as well as across the pond. As a member of the Associated Country Women of the World, she attended conferences in the USA, the Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand, and Canada. Myrtle was also a life member of the Erin Agricultural Society, holding various positions, including Homecraft President (1969-71). In 2001, Myrtle was honoured by the Town of Erin for her dedication as a volunteer. In more recent years, she was a mentor and proud supporter of The Special Friends Club, a club that was equally cherished by both Myrtle and Sean. She was also an active member of the Erin Village Quilters, where she created many beautiful creations and friendships alike. In recognition of her faithful service and dedication to her community, Myrtle was recently honoured with the Order of Niagara from the Diocese of Niagara (2023). A woman of extraordinary generosity and humility, Myrtle was truly altruistic, quietly donating anonymously to people around the world and within her community. She wrapped countless families, including those in need and military families, in love through her beautiful handmade quilts. Though her creations were often competition worthy, Myrtle rarely entered her own work, preferring to showcase the talents of others. A woman of strong faith, Myrtle will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her friends in the All Saints Anglican Church, a community she worshiped with for over 74 years. She will also be missed dearly by her many friends, family members, and neighbours whose lives she touched so deeply. Myrtle’s life was one of quiet grace, generosity, and love – leaving behind a legacy that will continue to warm hearts for generations to come. In celebration of her life, friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Saturday January 3rd from 10am – 12pm, with the service starting at 11am. Reception to follow at Erin Legion, 12 Dundas St. East, Erin from 2 – 5pm. If you have anything colourful to wear, Myrtle always enjoyed seeing people colourfully dressed. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Special Friends Club would be appreciated. Cheques can be made out to The Special Friends Club of St. Andrews, and mailed to P.O.
