PLESSIS-BÉLAIR, Daniel

1953 – 2025 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Daniel Plessis- Bélair of Palmerston on Saturday July 5, 2025, in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Jovanna Belair for 45 years and cherished father of Amy Plessis- Bélair (Alex MacLellan) of Owen Sound, Meghan Von Muhlenen (Ben) of Sudbury, and Andrea Stretch (Dan) of Port Elgin. A proud and devoted grandfather to Franceis, Kieran, William, Cillian, Evo, Gemma, Leon, and Georgia, Dan found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. Dan’s career was spent consulting and teaching with the Upper Grand District School Board. As a dedicated French Immersion teacher at Palmerston Public School, Dan inspired and supported countless students with his warmth, humour, and passion for educating. He was held in high esteem by students and colleagues alike. Dan also served as a devoted leader with 1st Palmerston Scouts for over 35 years. Dan is survived by his sister Andrée Plessis-Bélair of St. Jérôme, and will be lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Ghislaine Morin of Prévost, Timothy Rodger of London, Mark Pelesh and Jennifer Nicol of Vancouver. Dan was a much-loved uncle to his niece Véronique Plessis-Bélair (Eric Piché) of Prévost and their children Charles-Édouard and Lina-Rose, and his nephews Maxime Plessis-Bélair (Cléo) of Sainte-Adèle and Nicolas Pelesh of Vancouver. Dan will also be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in his home province of Québec. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Léonce and Georgette Plessis-Bélair, his brother Alain Plessis-Bélair, and sister Lina Plessis-Bélair. In accordance with Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of life on July 28, from 1:00-4:00pm with remembrances at 2:30pm at the Palmerston Legion. Daniel will be remembered for his love of family, commitment to education, dedicated community service, and the quiet kindness he shared with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 1st Palmerston Scouts. Arrangements entrusted to the Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston.
