Passed away after a brief illness on Sunday November 23, 2025 at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, age 84 years. Jack was the loving husband of Debrorah (nee Sproule) for 50 years. Dear father of the late Chrystal Nelson, Lisa Harwood (Wes) and the late Shawn Nelson (Amanda Clement). Loving grandfather of Ralston Nelson, Cheyanne Nelson, Alexa Robertson, Emily Robertson, Joshua Harwood, and Jack Harwood. Dear brother of Bev Nelson and Elaine Nelson. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Lawrence Nelson and Wayne Nelson. Jack grew up in Egremont Township, son of the late Russell Nelson and Viola Long. Jack and Deborah resided as next-door neighbours in Guelph. One day Deborah’s vehicle wouldn’t start, so she called Fidler’s Auto Service for assistance. They sent Jack over to look at her vehicle and drive her to work. That was the start of their friendship, eventually asking Deborah to marry him on September 19, 1975. Jack’s family received visitors on Friday November 28, 2025 from 10am to 11am, where a Funeral Service was held at 11am, with a reception that followed. Interment Trinity United Cemetery.
