With heavy hearts and a few sarcastic remarks (in true Wayne fashion), we announce the passing of Wayne Milne, who left this world just the way he lived in it — strong, stubborn, and full of love. Wayne was born on January 18, 1948, and spent his life working hard as a self-employed roofer — the kind of man who believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. He had a legendary work ethic, a heart as big as his laugh, and if you needed help, he’d give you the shirt off his back (and probably tell you you were doing it wrong while he did). He was predeceased by his beloved wife Cheryl and cherished son Bill, who we’re sure were waiting to greet him — likely with a cold drink and a good laugh. Left to miss him endlessly are his daughter Cherlyn (husband Randy), and his adored grandchildren Curtis and Anyssa, who inherited his sharp wit, his warmth, and probably a few of his colourful words. Also missing him dearly are his adopted daughter Freya and adopted son Jiggsy, who loved him as deeply as he loved them. Wayne loved the beach, boating, and watching the birds — though he was just as happy with a bag of cheesies, a bar of chocolate, and something to grumble about. His sense of humour was unmatched, his sarcasm legendary, and his “potty mouth” part of his charm (or so we told him). He loved with his whole heart — big, loud, loyal love — and his kindness touched everyone who crossed his path. The world is a little quieter without his laughter and teasing, but his spirit will live on in every perfectly patched roof, every sunset on the water, and every snack shared with a smirk. In honour of Wayne, have a cheesie, tell someone you love them (with a few swear words if needed), and remember that a good laugh is the best way to get through just about anything. We’ll miss you, you lovable old rascal — may the beaches be warm, the snacks plenty, and the jokes just a little inappropriate where you are. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Autism Behavioural Services Hall, 420 St. George Street West, Fergus on November 21, 2025 at 1pm. Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus.
