MEYER, Paul of Ailsa Craig, and formerly of Listowel and Teviotdale, peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the age of 79, with his family around him singing hymns and praise songs that ushered him into heaven and his Saviour’s loving arms. His wife, Ruth Smith Meyer cherishes the joy and blessing he brought her. His first wife Marion (Conner) Meyer, preceded him on the journey in 2004. Also remembering him are his beloved children, Paulette Dailey of Port Elgin, Julie Hartung of Palmerston, Dianne and Murray Dailey of Mount Forest, Jeff and Sheri Meyer of Bowden, Alberta; and Ruth’s children, Stuart and Mary Smith of St. Marys, and Wilma and Rene Kirmse, Beth and Peter Reiber and Loralyn Smith, all of London. He found great delight in the grandchildren of their combined families: Laura and Melanie Dailey, Andrew and Sarah Hartung, Josh and Rebecca Hartung, Amanda Hartung and Mina Yahya, Joel Hartung, Amelia Hartung, Kyle, Lindsay Dailey, Alyssa and Colin Vos , and Cole Dailey, Deandra and Caitlyn Meyer, Hannah Smith, Martin Smith, Nicolas Kirmse, Natasha Kirmse and Brendan Reiber. His newest joys were three great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Hartung and Landon Vos and looked forward to the promise of more, hoping for at least a baseball or hockey team. He will be missed by his sisters, Ruth and Gord Johnson, Ottawa and Alene Hoover, Stouffville and a host of in-laws—Meyer, Conner, Smith, and Nighswander connections. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Jones. Paul was always drawn to little ones and those with disadvantages, thinking the best of each one and giving support in any way he could. His sense of humour was an asset he held on to until the last minutes of his life, and his strong faith inspired many. Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Wednesday, January 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service was held at Palmerston Evangelical Missionary Church on Thursday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m.In the spring, interment will take place in Nairn Mennonite Church Cemetery, with a Memorial Reception to follow in the adjoining church. Donations in his memory may be made to the Gideons International. On-line condolences at www.eatonfuneralhome.ca
