In Loving Memory of Sue Meachem October 9, 1946 – October 16, 2025 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sue Meachem on October 16, 2025, just one week after her 79th birthday. Sue was the embodiment of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know her. She was a cherished friend, a caring neighbor, a devoted wife to the late Gerry Meachem, a loving mother to Samantha Kirkwood and Natasha (Mark) Wilkie, a proud grandmother to Maxwell, Alyson, Rebecca (Isaac), and Matthew (Amanda), and great grandmother to Nikxyn, Harlyn, Lily, Ruby, Frankie, Navy, Olivia, and Scarlett. Sue also had many dogs throughout her life that she loved and cherished, and most recently spent time spoiling Gibson and Bella. Sue emigrated from the UK to Canada in 1980 with her husband and daughters, seeking a better life for their family. Through determination and resilience, Sue embraced new customs and traditions, building a warm and welcoming home. Her quick wit and humour will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She worked diligently throughout her life, often holding two jobs, and remained committed to her work until her health required her retirement just six months ago. Sue was enthusiastic about cooking, baking, gardening, tennis, and, above all, spending precious time with her grandchildren. Her patience, kindness, and strong work ethic left a lasting impact and created a wide circle of friends, especially with those she met through work. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and PSWs who cared for Sue in her final weeks. Special gratitude is extended to her neighbours—Albert, Marie, and Chris—whose friendship and support meant so much. Sue leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. In honor of Sue’s memory, her family encourages everyone to follow the motto she lived by: “Because nice matters”—a simple truth she embodied every day.
“And with her face pointed to the wind, she smiled and was set free.”
