It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Opal McLellan (nee Silliker) on August 31, 2025. Originally from O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, Opal carried PEI in her heart throughout her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Wes, and is survived by her daughter Vicki, grandchildren Katie and Lindsay (Herbie), and great-grandchildren Leo and Oliver. She is also survived by her sister Sylvia Rodd (Elmer), brothers Elton (Wanda) and Dale (Janice), and their families. She will be missed by her brother-in-law Austin McLellan (Sis). Lastly, she shared great love and companionship with her partner, Jim, in her later years. We are forever grateful for the happiness and laughter you brought to her life- thank you. Opal enjoyed a fulfilling and active life, playing the golf course and the stock market with equal passion. She spent many years with her horses and horse friends, which brought her great joy. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed sitting down to take in a Leafs or Jays game, or a great round of golf. Opal was passionately committed to her health and wellness and has left us far too soon. She will be deeply missed by her family and many wonderful friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 27. Please drop in anytime between 2-5pm at The Carrick, 194 Erb St West, Waterloo, ON, N2L 0L6 in the Event Room. Parking is at the rear of the building, enter at the front of the building on Erb St (look for the balloons marking the entrance). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in Opal’s memory.
