Dianne Marilyn Lindsey (née McKane) was born on April 25, 1947, in Georgetown, Ontario, and passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Guelph, Ontario. Dianne was the beloved wife of Paul Lindsey for 53 years. She was the loving daughter of the late Arthur McKane and Margaret McKane (née McDonald), and a devoted mother to Glen Lindsey and Donald Lindsey (Andrea). She was a cherished “Grams” to Brennan and Jack Lindsey, and Charles and Evelyn Kretz, and a special aunt to Angela Kretz (Casey). She is survived by her sisters-in-law Barb McKane, Starr Lindsey, and Fern Lamptey (Max). Dianne was predeceased by her brother Murray McKane, her brothers-in-law Neil and Craig Lindsey, and her sister-in-law Faye Lindsey. Dianne grew up on a dairy farm in Georgetown, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse before going on to Streetsville High School. During these years, she was actively involved in 4-H and Junior Farmers. After high school, she attended the University of Guelph, earning her undergraduate degree, and later attended Western University to obtain her teaching certificate. Her teaching career began in Brampton, Ontario. Dianne married Paul in 1972, and they lived in Caledon before purchasing a dairy farm in Fergus in 1974, where they lived until 2015. She later continued her teaching career at Orangeville District Secondary School (ODSS), where she taught until her retirement. Early in her career, Dianne taught both gym and math, eventually focusing exclusively on teaching math. Alongside her professional life, Dianne devoted herself to raising her family. She spent countless hours running boys to arenas, coaching soccer, and caring for her loved ones. She was also a member of the Fergus Curling Club. In retirement, Dianne enjoyed golfing, traveling and generously volunteered her time with Groves Memorial Community Hospital, the local food bank, and the Canadian Cancer Society. She took pleasure in her investment club meetings, spending time with friends, and attending racetracks to watch family members compete with their horses. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren—playing with them, caring for them, and taking them shopping. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Dianne’s memory. Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St David St S Fergus, ON N1M 2L5.
