JOHNSON, Ann (nee Howells) December 24, 1941 – July 17, 2017. With loving family by her side, Ann passed away peacefully after complications from surgery, on Monday, July 17th at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. Ann was an adventurous 75 years young. Beloved wife of the late Captain Douglas Clifford Johnson (her soul mate). Loving mother of Cherie (Don Henderson), Andrew Knightley, Dawn Knightley and stepmother of Ann (Barry Lewis). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by sister Margaret and brother John. Sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was born in South Wales on Christmas Eve 1941. She was a champion swimmer for the Welsh National team and a member of the Royal Air Force. Ann emigrated to Canada in 1978 and proudly became a Canadian citizen in 2006. Ann lived in Grand Valley for 30 years and moved to Maple Leaf Acres, Fergus in 2011. Ann could often be seen driving her golf cart around, with her dog Toby by her side. Ann loved to participate in all the park’s events; dart nights, BBQs and dances. She was usually there meeting new people and old friends. Ann and her husband Cliff founded the 85 Tornado Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Ann was a Captain before her retirement from the air cadet movement. Many air cadet events were held on the Johnson property, positively impacting many young lives. Ann loved to dance, she enjoyed a good book, laughed at every chance, travelled often and was always lucky at the casino. A spirit that could not be contained, Ann was always looking for her next adventure. A Celebration of Life was held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the main hall at Maple Leaf Acres, R.R. #4, 5th Line, Fergus. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
