Elaine was born on October 14, 1931 on the 6th Line of Minto, and attended school at SS#14 on Highway 23. She worked for Peden Connell for $1/day, and it was not a 9-5 job, while watching Dr. Williams’ children. On June 24, 1950, Elaine married Everett Holland, the love of her life. She became a farmer’s wife and they worked their land, side by side, and raised their children; Bob, Betty, Linda, and Gord. They started with a mixed farm of cows, pigs, beef cattle, and hens, and Grandpa Holland’s horses, and then into dairy cows from milking by hand to heavy milk canisters to a milkline. What a change over the years! Elaine was busy cooking and caring for many children, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and the neighbourhood children. She was a gifted pie maker, and shared her gift with the Harriston Legion and Betty’s Restaurant. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 1:00pm until the time of funeral service at 2:00pm. Rev. Don McCallum officiating. Spring interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
