We are deeply saddened to announce Lyle’s peaceful passing, at home with family, in his 81st year after a long and hard-fought battle. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years Lynn, daughter Dawn (Trevor), son Bryce (Karen), dearly loved grandchildren Everly, and Ashton, Hunter, and Austin, siblings Wylda Rogers (Bruce, Vern), Millie and Bill Humphries, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Margaret, siblings Irvine and Helen Hamilton, Ronald and Liz Hamilton, Betty and John Stickney and again, nieces, nephews, and friends. Born and raised in Aberfoyle, and a proud retiree with 34+ years of service at The County of Wellington, Lyle knew how to work hard and play hard. An avid outdoorsman, he was more than happy to regale everyone with infamous tales from The Abitibi, and many hunting and fishing trips. Every road trip was an adventure with Lyle, and yearly vacations took his family through all of the backroads, through all of Northern Ontario. He taught us to always take the scenic route (and how to get unstuck while you were there!) He was also quite the handyman, tinkering in the garage on his endless hobbies, and he knew how to fix or build anything. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t rest until he figured it out. If he wasn’t home, he was almost certainly out helping his family. Usually taking over one of his kids many projects. He was the first guy everyone called, and he would go to the ends of the earth to help. As a man of few words, this is how he showed love and boy did we know we were deeply loved. Lyle will be remembered with love, laughter, friendship, and gratitude by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at Guelph Country Club (133 Woodlawn Rd. E., Guelph) on Saturday, November 29th 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Arrangements entrusted to the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations in Lyle’s memory to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of Lyle A. Hamilton in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
HAMILTON, Lyle Alexander
