With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Butch, a kind, loving, and loyal-to-a-fault man, in his 77th year. Born on February 5, 1949, to the late Wilfred (Hoag) and Eileen (Prior) Green, Butch lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. He was married to the love of his life, Agnes (Epoch) Green, for nearly 58 wonderful years—a partnership built on deep affection, endless laughter, and enduring commitment. Butch was a devoted father to Darlene (Mike) Willard, Shelley Green, and the late Stacey (Bill) Leith. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob (Lexi) Willard, and Ashley Willard (Gage), Steve (Amanda) Sharpe, Rickie Sharpe, Toni Sharpe and the late Deacon Leith, and the undeniable apple of his eye were his great-grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler, Charles, Brooklyn and Lillian. Beloved brother to Dianne (late Bob) MacPherson, Ollie (late Ralph) Graham, and predeceased by the late Jo and Ed McQueen. Brother-in-law to: Jim (Gaytane) Epoch, Pat (Wanda) Epoch, Marie (late Ron) Martin, Mary Ellen (Charlie) Kemsley, Frank (Susan) Epoch, Margaret Ann (Don) Wagner, Leonard (Lillian) Epoch, sister-in-laws Mary Epoch and Rose Wilke, predeceased by Eleanor Epoch, Gerald Epoch, Dan (Boone) Epoch and Ken Wilke. He spent many years as a long-haul float driver for Seegmiller’s Construction, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, warm spirit—and just the right touch of sarcasm. Whether on the road, at home, or in the Arthur community, Butch was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Butch was a man of profound wisdom, whose quick wit, hearty laughter, and boundless love brought comfort and joy to everyone around him. His sense of humor and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Though deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, cherished and fondly remembered. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Groves Memorial Hospital ER and the Guelph General Hospital ICU unit. To honour Butch’s wishes cremation has taken place, visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur, from 2:00 to 4:00pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A funeral service will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9141 Hwy 6, Kenilworth, ON, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 11:30am, followed by a reception in the church basement immediately after the service. A private family interment will be held at St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Arthur Food Bank or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, in honour of Stacey, Butch’s daughter, who passed away from kidney disease.
