It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Leo Givens, with his children by his side. He has now joined his loving wife, Agnes (2021). He leaves behind great memories for his loving family. Mourning his loss are his children, John (Kim), Barry (Patti), Mary Ellen (Vic), and Margie (Tom). His grandchildren are Kevin (Lori), Keith (Jeanette), Derrick (Jodi), Brad, Phillip (Nicole), Nicholas (Evelyn), Christopher, Kory (Katja), Aaron, and Lindsay. He is also survived by his loving great-grandchildren: Jessica, Julia, Ethan, Elizabeth, Kora, Lily, Daniel (Veronika), Rein, Oaklynn, Madison (Dane), Quentin, Rhett, Nala, Gavin, and Natalie. Dad was a fun-loving, caring man who took pride in his family and his home. Gardening was his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed watching hockey and baseball games in the evenings. Dad’s sense of humor stood out to everyone who knew him. He enjoyed coffee with friends after a day at the seniors’ center. Most of us knew he loved his country music! Leo was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Ellen, and his siblings, Phil and Eileen. A visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus, from 5-8pm on Friday, October 3rd, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 760 St. David Street North, Fergus, at 11am on Saturday, October 4th. Leo’s casket will be interred at St. Mary-St. Joseph Cemetery in Elora after the Mass, with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Hospice Wellington in his memory.
