GIBBINGS, Rick

With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Rick Gibbings at his home in Harriston, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 12th, 2025 at the age of 72. Rick was Adele’s beloved husband and best friend for 43 years. Proud father of Kayla and Ryan Fisk of Harriston, and Josh and Ashley Gibbings of Harriston. Adored grandfather to Easton, Charlee, Jaxon and Cohen.  Son of the late Ray and Iona Gibbings, and son-in-law of the late Norris and Eila McLaughlin. Brother to Wayne and Pat Gibbings, and Marvin and Connie Gibbings and predeceased by his brother Tim Gibbings. Brother-in-law to Anne and Earl Schneider, John McLaughlin and Kim Nickel, Jim and Kathy McLaughlin and Barb McLaughlin. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and dedicated healthcare professional. A skilled paramedic and compassionate nurse, he spent his life answering the call to serve others. His gentle strength, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to caring for those in need touched countless lives. He carried that same compassion into his home, where he was the heart of his family. As a husband, he was loving and loyal; as a father, endlessly proud and supportive; and as a grandfather, he brought warmth, laughter, and guidance to every moment spent with those he loved most. His legacy lives on in the lives he saved, the comfort he provided, and the family who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Though he is no longer with us, the impact of his kindness, courage, and dedication will never fade. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the gratitude of all who were blessed to know him. A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at the Harriston Legion on Friday, January 9th, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00pm with sharing of memories at 3:00pm. Memorial donations to the Palmerston Hospital Foundation or the Harriston Food Bank would be greatly appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
