After 97 full and beautiful years, Marjorie Ann Cameron passed away peacefully and embraced in love on November 15, 2025 at The Elliott Community in Guelph, ON. She is now home and reunited with her beloved husband Jack and cherished daughter Catherine. Born to Hilda May Shreeve and Sylvanus Lavender in Niagara Falls, ON, Marjorie was a first-generation Canadian. Little sister to Sylvia and older sister to George, she was raised with a deep sense of honesty, integrity, reliability and religious faith- traits that she is remembered for by so many who were a part of her life story. The daughter of a “Home Child”, and having grown up through the Great Depression and World War Two, Marjorie’s determination and hardwork resulted in many achievements to be proud of. This included, after many years of working and raising a family, earning several certificates, a Diploma in Municipal Administration, and becoming Deputy Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Elora. Through this work, she left a lasting positive impact on her beloved Elora. Marjorie was ‘Mom’, to Richard (Pauline), the late Catharine, Beverley (Michael), Christopher (Tabitha) and Geoffrey (Jill). Marjorie and Jack raised them in St. Catherines, and from 1969 onward, in the beloved home they built in Elora, overlooking the Village. Marjorie was the proud and wonderful Grandma Cameron “GC” to Shane, Ryan, Jacklyn, Ashley, Meghan, Owen, Darcy, Lindsay, Mackenzie, Mya, Autumn, Michael, Alexander and Julia and their spouses. She was a great-grandmother to twelve. She will be missed dearly by her sister and best friend Sylvia. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends from her faith communities, the Seniors Centre, her coffee clubs and her longtime Elora friends. She was a wonderful friend to many and was known to be the chauffeur for many adventures. Marjorie is remembered for her love of the Toronto Blue Jays and Hockey Night in Canada. For sharing cookies over long conversations on the front porch. For breakfast and lunch dates and coffee visits. For making sure everyone got home safe at the end of a fun time together. For epic Christmas parties and early Christmas mornings. For babysitting adventures and long conversations on the phone. For her hugs and “love yas”. We are grateful for her life. Thank you to those that gave extraordinary care to Marjorie over many years, including Dr. Pridham of Elora Medical Group, staff at Heritage River in Elora, the compassionate caregivers at the Elliott Community in Guelph and pastoral care from St. John’s Anglican Church in Elora. Marjorie’s life will be celebrated at St. John’s Anglican Church, in Elora in the spring of 2026. Memorial donations made to St. John’s Anglican Church in Elora or The Elliott Community in Guelph would be appreciated by Marjorie’s family.
