ARMBRUSTER, Steve

Steve grew up on a fruit farm in Beamsville, Ontario. His parents Maria and Stefan came from Germany to Canada in 1951 and worked extremely hard to make it a success. Steve was a Science teacher in Fergus at CWDHS for most of his teaching career. His former students often spoke to him and told him how much they had enjoyed his classes. He was passionate about cycling- regardless of the weather. He enjoyed going to Blues Festivals, cross country skiing, skating and playing golf with his friends. Steve was unbeatable in Trivial Pursuit. He especially loved singing along to his favourite tunes. Steve so enjoyed watching his grandchildren perform in plays and play soccer, ball and hockey. He was really proud of them all and their many accomplishments. Steve was a loving husband to Brigitte. After retiring they enjoyed travelling to many destinations around the world and spending their winters in Panama City Beach, Florida. Steve and Liz Garrett (deceased in 2023) were proud parents and grandparents to Erin and Stewart Wong and their children Clara and Charlie; Mike and Fiona Armbruster and their children Owen, Finley, Galen and Aaron; John Armbruster and Lena Marren and daughter Pearl. He was also a proud step-Dad and Papa to Julie and Brett Turner and their children Hannah, Mason and Leah; Dave and Danielle Turner and their children Hudson and Harper; Sean Turner and his sons Noah and Ryan. He will be missed by his sister Kathy Calverley and her husband Steve. Steve is lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humour, kindness, inquisitive mind and courageous spirit. Many thanks to all of the staff in Maple Ridge and Dr. Stickney at Wellington Terrace who cared for him with such kindness and compassion. Arrangements were entrusted to Graham A Giddy Funeral Home Ltd., 280 St. David St. S. Fergus, ON N1M 2L5, (519) 843-3100. Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Steve’s online memorial.
