AITKEN, Lillian Olive (Lynn) (nee Dick)

September 22, 1928 - December 3, 2025

Predeceased by husband Alex Aitken and sisters Helen (Nixon) and Barbara (Wilson) and brother Jack (Dick). Survived by daughters Susan, Linda & Heather (Alex), grandchildren Alicia Albl (Theepen) and Daniel Curtis (Amanda). Great grandchildren: Gavin and Khloe (Curtis) and Tazyn (Loganathan). Always a positive person no matter the challenges that her long life of 97 years. She was a life-long resident of Fergus, witnessing many changes to the town. She enjoyed Tuesday night bowling on the Ladies Fergus League. She made melt in your mouth shortbread cookies, entrusting us with her ‘secret’ recipe, and the best roast beef sandwiches. She had a penchant for photography and kept numerous journals documenting her life that her family will use to remember times gone by. She loved to play games like: euchre, Kings Across the Corners, Cribbage, Scrabble and is still the families Chinese Checkers Champion. Creative, economical and thrifty, she would always try to fix or make something instead of buying it new. Loved going for a drive, especially to see Christmas lights, visit her daughter’s horses or pick lilacs on the side of the road. She had gusto, high standards for things to be done just right. You could always find her enjoying gardening, sewing, needle point or reading a good murder mystery, maybe even dancing in the kitchen. She was interested in new technology using her iPad for gaming and photographing and her cell phone for texting to keep in touch with family. She was also a proud volunteer and convenor at the Opportunity Shoppe (New to You). We would like to thank Dr. Stickney and his dedicated and compassionate team of nurses and PSWs at Wellington Terrace for their kindness, care and support. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers we would ask that donations be made to Wellington Terrace LTC. A “celebration of life” will take place in 2026, family & friends will be welcomed to join the family at that time. Arrangements have been entrusted with Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus (280 St. David St. S., Fergus, 519-843-3100). Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Lillian’s online memorial.
