Oakville man charged in fatal Mapleton crash last fall

MAPLETON – An Oakville man has been charged with dangerous and careless driving in connection with a crash last fall that left one person dead.

Wellington County OPP officials announced on April 10 that police had “concluded their investigation” into the collision between a pickup truck and a loaded semi-truck and trailer on Oct. 23, 2023.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, at the intersection of Wellington Roads 11 and Road 7, northeast of Drayton, at about 12pm that day.

“The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at scene” and “the driver of the semi-truck and trailer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” police stated in a press release at the time.

Krzysztof Wiatr, 60, of Oakville, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and careless driving causing death.
