New import regulations take effect Jan. 1 requiring food exporters to register with China Customs
Food exporters and processors with product destined for China will need to register with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) as of Jan. 1.
The new requirement comes after China announced two new regulations back in April—Decree 248 and 249.
Food products impacted fall into the “medium risk” category, ranging from honey to soy and wheat flour.
In advance of China’s implementations, Canadian food exporters should ensure their products are in compliance with the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and with China’s import requirements.
