New hospital plans move forward

FERGUS – The Groves Memorial Community Hospital Stage 2 submission is now in the hands of the Ministry of Health and the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

The submission  contains documents outlining the functions, operations, staffing, major equipment, room and space requirements for each department or service.

It also provides details of the facility’s operating and capital funding requirements.

The hospital continues to work with both the Ministry and the LHIN on gaining Stage 2 approval.

Meanwhile, the county museum will create an inventory and archive of the hospital’s historical items, alongside artifacts the museum already possesses, including documents, furniture, medical devices and photographs.

Groves staff has also been  working with Wellington County and Centre Wellington  Township to prepare a tender for road construction to provide access to the new hospital. The work will include water and sewer services to the site.

That construction is estimated to last until early winter 2014/15.

Once completed, a road will link Beatty Line with Colborne Street and Wellington Road 18.

Following road completion, a storm water management pond will be constructed.
