New Erin committee appointments

At the Dec. 16 meeting Erin council appointed councillors to various committees.

Councillor Matt Sammut was appointed to the Recreation and Culture Committee (Trail Committee) and East Wellington Community Services.

Councillor Jeff Duncan was appointed to the Town of Erin Heritage Committee, Let’s Get Hillsburgh Growing, Committee of Adjustment, and Property Standards.

Councillor Rob Smith was appointed to the Community Oriented Policing Committee and Business Improvement Area.

Councillor John Brennan was appointed to Ballinifad Community Centre, Wellington Economic Development Group, Headwaters, and he was named Credit Valley Conservation Authority member.

Council approved Guelph-Eramosa Mayor Chris White to be the Grand River Conservation Authority member this term for Erin, Guelph-Eramosa and Puslinch.

Council named John Maddox as closed meeting investigator. He will receive a retainer of $1,000 and $300 for each member municipality from Wellington County of each year. Each municipality will pay $100 per hour for Maddox’s services as well as reimburse his expenses and mileage when the municipality is being investigated.

Council also committed to putting $100 each annually into a “Good Guys Fund” to help aid select fundraising or assistance requested of the town.
