MVCA says snowpack at highest point since 1982

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is urging caution and preparation in anticipation of the spring melt.

The authority says the snow pack in the Maitland and Nine Mile watersheds is well above normal for this time of year. On average the water content of the snow pack is the highest measured since 1982, the MVCA points out in a March 19 press release.

The authority has encouraged municipal flood coordinators to review their flood emergency plans and be prepared to take emergency action to notify residents in flood prone areas.
