MPP: Federal funding to create summer jobs for students

Over $163,000 in Canada Summer Jobs funding will allow 50 employers in Perth Wellington to hire more than 60 young Canadians, says local MPP Gary Schellenberger.

The Canada Summer Jobs program is designed to help students gain the skills and experience they need to be successful, while earning money for the upcoming school year, states a press release issued by Schellenberger on behalf of the social development minister Candice Bergen.

In 2014, the Canada Summer Jobs program is expected to create approximately 35,000 jobs across the country, while helping employers address skills shortages.

“Creating summer jobs for students benefits not only youth and employers, but also local economies in our riding,” Schellenberger stated.
