On Jan. 5 the Mount Forest Atom “A”  hockey team started out the new year going head to head with Walkerton’s local league at the community assembled Reeves Cup Games.
Assistant coaches and trainers Tom Bowden, Lindsey Donald, Jay Lewis, and Brian Zeinstra once more convinced the A’s they have the stuff it takes to get winning results.
Walkerton pumped Mount Forest adrenaline in the first period with a goal by Kyle Paulitzki.
The only game infraction went to Walkerton’s Jordan Dahms, also in the first, but Mount Forest was unable to capitalize on the powerplay.
Tension mounted throughout period two, when finally Mount Forest fans cheered a goal by “Jumpin” Jake Mulder. That goal was reinforced seconds later with a solid effort slam by “Zippy” Zach Droog.
A third reminder of fortitude slipped it’s way past the Walkerton goal tender late in the second frame, scored by Mount Forest’s up-and-coming  “Jammin” Jesse Robinson.
Heading into the third with a two goal lead, Robinson’s steady stick passed the puck to  Droog, who scored, solidifying a 4-1 win and an exciting OMHA tournament for the victorious Mount Forest Atom A’s.
