More direction sought on proposal for a full time chief
Wellington North’s fire committee wants more direction on what the municipality wants for a full-time fire chief.
The fire committee recently asked for clarification on the information the administration committee and council requires for hiring a full time fire chief.
The step would be a moved to amalgamate the two departments into one. What is being proposed is a full time job, while the two current chiefs for Arthur and Mount Forest are part time. The fire committee would have to support the hiring, but approval to proceed would be given by council.
Councillor Dan Yake suggested the committee come to council with representative, Tom Everett, from the Fire Marshall’s office who could give some guidance.
