Moorefield Optimists hold Kids Fishing Derby

Arayia Laforge was thrilled with the trout she caught, but didn’t want to hold it so dad Teague stepped in to help.

Despite cool, rainy weather, organizers were pleased 68 kids and their families braved the elements to register for the free event. Volunteers were kept busy measuring fish since 96 stocked rainbow trout were caught as participants vied for prizes, including biggest fish, most fish caught, and youngest angler.

Hopeful anglers of all ages clustered along the banks of the Cosens’ farm pond on May 25.
