Minto hosting newcomer’s reception

PALMERSTON – The Town of Minto, the Minto Chamber of Commerce and the local downtown revitalization committees are welcoming everyone who has moved to Minto in the last year.

The town’s annual newcomers’ welcome reception is set for Aug. 25, from 7 to 9pm at the Palmerston Community Centre (in conjunction with the Palmerston Fair). Those new to the area are invited to meet with various businesses, community groups, churches and town of Minto staff to learn more about their new community and ask questions.

“We have a welcome bag full of goodies and information from various businesses and community groups that newcomers can pick up at the entrance,” notes Minto marketing and community development coordinator Erin Raftis.

“We’re so excited to meet everyone, answer questions, and really show that Minto is ‘where your family belongs.’”

The event is free to attend and will allow time to socialize with other newcomers and the community, listen to live music by Clifford musician Juanita Wilkins, and enjoy light snacks and refreshments.

Attendees can also sign-up to receive their bins for recycling and organics pickup.

Pre-registration must be done in advance by Aug. 18 at noon. Confirm attendance online at town.minto.on.ca/events or by calling 519-338-2511 ext. 241. More information can be found at town.minto.on.ca or by following the town on Facebook.
