Mimosa United Church celebrating 150 years

The little stone church on the hill, Mimosa United, is celebrating 150 years as a congregation.

Several special events have been planned this year to commemorate this milestone in the community life of Mimosa.

On Sept. 20 there will be a special country gospel concert  at 7pm featuring the Muir Family.

The anniversary service will be held on Sept. 21 at 10am. There will be music, guests and a lunch to follow. Former ministers will be there to help celebrate during the service. In a continuation of community events, dinner lectures will continue this fall on Wednesday evenings, starting on Oct. 22 for three weeks.

Topics covered will include: South America’s lost cradle of civilization, Chavin and the rise of religious authority and elite rulers of war, Paracas: mummies, shamans and severed heads, pyramids, gold and warriors, and The Moche: Richest tombs in the world and the Amazon – civilization lost in the jungle.

The church on the hill will host several large 4-H groups including a 4-H drama club starting in September. During the Christmas season, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson will be presented at the church. A 4-H art club will also be learning about acrylic painting this fall and sharing their projects at an open house.

Mimosa United welcomes  one and all to weekly services  at 9:30am under the direction of Rev. Jeff Davison. The church is located at 9760 Wellington Road 26, RR#5 Belwood.
