FERGUS – Once a month it gets messy at Faith Lutheran Church
Messy Church participants roared, squeaked, mooed, neighed and hollered as they floated in Noah’s Ark.
Another successful Messy Church was enjoyed on Jan. 17 at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 290 Belsyde Ave. E., next door to JD Hogarth school.
People of all ages made rainbow crafts, folded, floated and sank paper boats and played pin the animal on the ark.
Local face painter Ange Billings turned guests into tigers, elephants, warthogs and all sorts of other creatures that would soon fill the ark in the worship space.
Pastor Gloria Ryder led an interactive worship with kids calling out responses during the story time. Camp type singing and prayer rounded out the worship time.
After much activity the whole group piled their plates with tacos and all the fixings. A pair of senior congregation members got to try tacos for the first time and heartily approved.
“It’s so much fun,” said Kate Mitscherling, who has been attending Messy Church with her mom since it started in September. “I look forward to it every month.”
Messy Church is free and open to all community members. It offers a way for children, families and friends to explore and experience Christian faith in a relaxed, informal setting. The gatherings are non-denominational and those with no church affiliations are very welcome too. Every Messy Church ends with a shared meal together, so parents get a night off from having to cook.
Join the next Messy Church on Feb. 21 from 4 to 6:30pm. Church doors open at 3:10pm to welcome kids with an accompanying adult right after school. For more info check out the Facebook page, Faith Church Fergus-Elora.
