President Alieda Murray welcomed 25 members, drivers and guests to the Clifford Community Meals on Wheels annual general meeting recently at Knox United Church in Clifford.
Newly elected treasurer Phyllis Kaufman reported 1,383 meals were delivered during 2013, with monthly totals ranging from 92 to 154. Over $2,100 was raised through a yard and bake sale.
The board of directors was approved for 2014-15. Directors with terms ending in 2014 are: Marion Agla, Ross Derbecker, Eleanore Gerber, Wes Gerber, Carol Lange, Patrick Mullan, Alieda Murray, Joyce Yost and Bonnie Whitehead. Directors with terms ending 2015 are: Helen Braun, Karen Dowler, Lyle Murray, Shirley Murray, Randy Ruetz.
Jim and Marlene Dennie and their staff at the Redwood Restaurant were recognized for preparing hot, nutritious meals three times a week to be delivered at noon to the clients.
Volunteer drivers will be treated to an appreciation luncheon in the spring catered by the St. John’s Lutheran ladies.
Drivers also sign up to deliver people to appointments in the village and further afield.
