Mapleton, Minto fire bans lifted

Burn bans in Minto and Mapleton have officially been lifted.

On July 23, Mapleton Fire Chief Rick Richardson announced an end to the open air burning ban that was instituted in the township on July 11 in response to dry conditions in the region.

“The fire department wishes to thank the community for their patience and assistance in keeping our residents safe,” Richardson stated in a press release. “We still encourage safe methods of burning and the township regulations still apply.”

On the same day, Minto Fire tweeted, “Effective immediately, we have lifted the open air burn ban due to the rainfall Minto has received over the weekend.”

The town had been under an open air burn ban since July 11. The ban was lifted as of 1:25pm on July 23.
