Man killed in Guelph shooting

One man is dead following a shooting at a hotel here on March 1.

On March 1 at about 4:39pm, emergency crews were called to the Comfort Inn Hotel on Silvercreek Parkway North in response to a report of a shooting.

Guelph Police say hotel employee Aly Sunderani, 45, was found near the front entrance suffering from gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene and transported to the Guelph General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

“The person(s) responsible for this homicide remain at large,” police said in a press release the night of the shooting.

“Police believe this was a targeted incident and do not believe there is a risk to the general public at this time.”

Police say they are interested in identifying a small black sport utility vehicle (SUV) seen leaving the area shortly after the incident.

Investigators are requesting that anyone who was in the vicinity with vehicles equipped with video recording equipment, or anyone with general information, to contact Detective Constable Brian Welsh at 519-824-1212 ext. 7345 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
