MacKenzie appointed to regional source water protection committee

Minto council has endorsed former Ward 1 Wellington County councillor Mark MacKenzie as the representative to the Ausable Bayfield Maitland Valley Source Protection Committee for the town, as well as the townships of Howick, Wellington North, Perth East and Mapleton.

CAO clerk and council assistant Annilene McRobb advised North Perth councillor Mert Schneider recently resigned from the postion and MacKenzie had expressed interest in replacing him.

McRobb said staff from North, Howick and Mapleton responded that they are comfortable with MacKenzie providing representation for their municipalities and will ask their respective councils to support this resolution.

North Perth and Perth East were expected to consider the appointment at upcoming meetings as well.

Façade grants

Minto council has approved grants through the municipality’s façade and signage grant program for two businesses in the same building in Clifford.

Chestnut and Oaks Home Decor will receive $2,480 through the program to remove siding and existing shutters and install new siding on their portion of the building at 21 Elora Street.
