Local No Frills kicks off hospital foundation radiothon
MOUNT FOREST – The 25th annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon is set for Oct. 17.
It’s an all-day fundraiser in support of nine area hospital foundations, including the Louise Marshall Hospital (LHM) Foundation in Mount Forest.
Earlier this month, Peter’s No Frills in Mount Forest helped to kick off LMH Foundation’s Radiothon campaign with a $6,690 donation – the proceeds from its summer “Give a Little, Help A Lot” campaign.
The Mount Forest No Frills store raised more than any other No Frills in Canada through this fundraiser, officials say.
“On behalf of the LMH Foundation, we’d like to extend both a warm thank you to everyone who donated at the till in support of this fundraiser, and a huge congratulations to the team at Peter’s No Frills for this fantastic accomplishment,” said foundation executive director Amy Van Huss.
This year, LMH Foundation has set a goal to raise $150,000 towards infrastructure upgrades at LMH through its 2026 Radiothon campaign.
These essential upgrades will help to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest possible standard, officials say, which then helps to ensure staff can continue to provide excellent patient care in a safe and comfortable environment.
Over the past 25 years, the annual radiothon campaign has raised more than $2.7 million in support of LMH, and has funded dozens of capital projects and piece of equipment, including a new ultrasound echo machine, nurse call system upgrades and a steam autoclave.
For a third year, Jess Hammett Photography will offer fall mini photo sessions in October leading up to the Radiothon, and will be donating half of the proceeds to the LMH Foundation.

Also for a third year, the LMH Foundation will be hosting a community breakfast by donation at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. Featuring a menu including pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and coffee or juice, the breakfast is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 8 to 11am, with all proceeds supporting the radiothon campaign.
Donations will also be gratefully accepted on site at the arena during the breakfast.
The radiothon will be broadcast all day on AM920 and cknx.ca, with updates available on the hour on 101.7 The One and Cool 94.5. Listeners can expect heartwarming patient stories, interesting and informative interviews, and descriptions of equipment needed at each participating hospital.
On Oct. 17 donors can phone in their pledges during the broadcast by calling toll free 1-877-227-3486 from 9am to 4pm, visiting louisemarshallfoundation.ca, calling 519-323-2210 x.77711, or delivering in person to the hospital at 630 Dublin St. in Mount Forest.
People can also donate $10 by texting HERO LOUISE MARSHALL to 41010 in October.
